35. Lessons from Establishing a Unique Occupational Therapy Practice with Marco Rodriguez

Marco Rodriguez is an Occupational Therapist and is the CEO of Transformations Rehabiltation Services in El Paso, TX which he founded in 2013. Marco shared his career journey from graduating in occupational therapy to becoming a successful healthcare administrator and entrepreneur, all leading to his establishing of a rehabilitation practice.

Marco shared his personal journey of discovering neurofeedback therapy for his son Patrick, who was diagnosed with multiple neurologic atypicalities including ADHD and autism. Despite initial frustration with traditional medical approaches focused on medication, Marco and his wife, Diane,  invested in a home neurofeedback system that helped Patrick improve gradually. Inspired by his pediatrician's suggestion that he was being selfish by keeping the treatment to himself, Marco eventually joined a physical therapist friend to open a practice incorporating neurofeedback and occupational therapy.

His practice gained traction through community engagement and parent advocacy. He described how attending local support meetings led to referrals and eventual acceptance from 64 physicians in the area. Marco emphasized the importance of taking small steps and staying focused on progress. He also highlighted the harmonious collaboration with his wife, Diane, an occupational therapist, and their son, who has been a key part of the journey.
